THE EVENT
The Track Para-cycling World Championship is the main annual event of the International Cycling Union (UCI). For the vast majority of professional athletes, the World Championship represents the main goal of the year, which is why the organization of this event is so important.
In 2024, it will be the last official Para-cycling event for qualifying for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. For this reason, the event gains even more importance and is expected to have a record participation of athletes vying for qualification for the Paralympic Games.
In 2018, also in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) hosted this competition for the first time, positioning Para-cycling as the first sport to hold a World Championship in the Olympic legacy of Rio 2016.
The 2018 Track Para-cycling World Championship was an absolute success in organization, being praised by the majority of participating countries and leading UCI to offer us the competition again in the most important year of the 2024 Paralympic cycle.
